The bitcoin price has exceeded the $15,000 mark for the first time in a long time. The cryptocurrency has been on a tear this year boosted by various factors.
Earlier, the world's most popular digital asset climbed above $14,000, the highest level since January 2018. Many traders thought that was the limit after PayPal had joined the crypto market. The company announced that it would allow customers to buy, sell, and hold bitcoins using its online wallets. This news enabled bitcoin to reach $13,000 and then approach the level of $14,000. However, the currency continued to gain in value, setting another price record. Moreover, it is still on the way to new highs.
Notably, bitcoin's share of the total cryptocurrency market is 63.8%.
