It could be a cute piece of news but this move was made as a countermeasure in the face of the severe energy crisis.
Octopus Energy is one of such energy providers. The company launched this campaign to support households in financial hardship because the Britons have to survive soaring electricity and gas bills. For the time being, Great Britain is struggling with the full-blown energy crisis. In a short stretch of time, energy providers pumped up their utility bills for end users by an unprecedented 54% due to a spike in wholesale gas prices. High tariffs have already put a strain on millions of British households. According to flash estimates, the average heating bill will swell by £700 a year. Octopus Energy has found a great solution for those who cannot afford such expenses. One of the company’s customers confessed that he had never turned on the heating in winter because of sky-high prices. Earlier, research revealed the worst deterioration in the standard of living in the Kingdom since the 1950s. Energy firms have doubled their electricity tariffs since April 1. For this reason, 5 million British households will have to spend more than 10% of their budget on electricity alone.
