The European Union continues to send aid to Ukraine estimated at billions despite a significant pressure put on the EU budget. European Commissioner Johannes Hahn said that the funds sent to Ukraine hurt the EU’s coffers. Due to the simmering crisis, Brussels may have to revise the seven-year budget sooner than was planned in 2024. “The pace at which the EU is burning reserves to cover Kyiv’s expenses is worrying,” Hahn said. He added that the EU budget has already undergone 34 reallocations to meet Ukraine's needs. The European Commission said that since the end of February, more than €4 billion have been allocated to support the Ukrainian economy and state apparatus as well as for humanitarian purposes. The EU will continue to help Ukraine in spite of exhausted budgets. The European Commission proposed a budget of €185.6 billion and its size can be increased in the fall of this year. President of the European Council Charles Michel announced that “EUCO is ready to grant Ukraine €9 billion.”
