Two longtime competitors in the footwear market Adidas and Nike are facing off in court once again. The German company has accused its American counterpart of violating 9 of its tech patents.
According to the lawsuit, which was filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Nike’s SNKRS app allegedly violated patents used by the Adidas Confirmed service. Furthermore, Adidas claimed that Nike Adapt, the technology which automatically customizes the fit of a sneaker to the wearer’s foot, infringed on patents related to the Adidas_1 sneaker, which was released in 2005.
“Adidas has long been a leader in mobile technology, including technology related to mobile fitness and mobile purchases,” the lawsuit stated.
The German footwear manufacturer demanded Nike to pay an unspecified amount of money damages.
