The University of Michigan's preliminary consumer sentiment index for May is due at 10 am ET Friday. Ahead of the data, the greenback advanced against its major counterparts.
The greenback was worth 129.23 against the yen, 1.0371 against the euro, 1.2176 against the pound and 1.0032 against the franc at 9:55 am ET.
