U.S. personal income and spending data for July is due at 8:30 am ET Friday. Ahead of the data, the greenback held steady against its major rivals.
The greenback was worth 136.97 against the yen, 0.9642 against the franc, 1.0002 against the euro and 1.1820 against the pound at 8:25 am ET.
