Apple Inc. has future plans to launch a new artificial intelligence (AI) software tool for app developers, according to sources reported by Bloomberg. This novel tool aims to automate coding duties, thereby streamlining the software creation process and increasing developers' productivity.
Apple has reportedly been developing this AI tool over the past year and will be integrated into the forthcoming version of its primary programming software, Xcode. The company has broadened internal testing of the tool, accelerated the developmental process, and hopes to launch the tool for third-party software creators as soon as this year. This new tool mirrors Microsoft's Copilot; it can auto-complete lines and coding blocks based on the initial code input by developers. There is the potential for this feature to be included in Xcode software, which Apple distributes free to software developers, later this year.
In addition to this, the tech giant is also developing various other AI-based features, including an automatic music playlist creator for Apple Music and automated slide deck creation for business presentation software. In other AI news, Alphabet Inc.'s Google recently launched an 'AI Cyber Defense Initiative'.
