France's industrial production experienced a recovery in April, aligning with expectations, following a decline in the previous month, according to data released by the statistical office INSEE on Wednesday.
Industrial output increased by 0.5 percent on a month-over-month basis, offsetting a 0.2 percent decrease from March. This marked the most substantial rise in five months.
Similarly, manufacturing output saw a rebound of 0.4 percent in April, after experiencing a 0.4 percent decrease in March.
Within the manufacturing sector, the production of machinery and equipment goods rose by 2.7 percent over the month.
Conversely, the manufacturing of food products and beverages fell by 3.7 percent, while the production of coke and refined petroleum products declined by 0.6 percent.
The data also indicated that output in the transport equipment sector contracted by 2.6 percent in April, a shift from the 2.1 percent increase observed in March. The output in the mining and quarrying sector remained unchanged from March, whereas construction production experienced a 1.0 percent decrease.
