In March 2025, consumer prices in Senegal saw a 0.2% decrease year-on-year, contrasting with the 0.6% increase recorded in February. This represents the first drop in four periods, primarily attributed to reduced costs in food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.9%) and information and communication goods and services (-8.1%). Despite these declines, there were notable price rises in other sectors, particularly in restaurants and accommodation services (+1.6%), furniture, household equipment, and routine maintenance (+1.7%), housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (+0.9%), and transport (+1.0%). Excluding the volatile categories of energy and fresh products, the core index experienced a year-on-year rise of 2.1%. On a monthly scale, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreased by 0.5%, following a 0.6% drop in February.
