In March 2025, Finland experienced a reduction in its trade deficit, which fell to EUR 0.89 billion from EUR 0.99 billion in March of the previous year, based on preliminary figures. This improvement was supported by a notable 17.7% increase in exports, reaching EUR 5.6 billion. The growth in exports was primarily fueled by higher sales to EU countries, which surged by 21.5%, and to non-EU countries, which increased by 10.3%. Simultaneously, imports grew by 16.6%, amounting to EUR 6.5 billion, largely attributable to increased purchases from EU countries (up 12.1%) and non-EU countries (up 20.4%). Throughout the first quarter of the year, Finland's cumulative trade deficit narrowed to EUR 1.3 billion from EUR 2 billion in the same timeframe the previous year.
