On Tuesday, U.S. stocks experienced a decline for the second consecutive session. The S&P 500 decreased by 0.8%, the Nasdaq composite dropped by 1%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell roughly 260 points. Investor confidence remained tepid amid ongoing tariff uncertainties and increasing concerns regarding how trade tensions might affect corporate earnings. President Trump has a meeting scheduled with Canadian Prime Minister Carney on the same day, while negotiations between the U.S. and various countries continue without any formal resolutions yet. In anticipation of upcoming tariffs in April, U.S. imports surged in March. The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting also commenced today, with expectations that the Federal Reserve will maintain the current interest rates. The technology and healthcare sectors were among the poorest performers, whereas energy and utilities recorded gains. Palantir Technologies saw a nearly 12% drop after disappointing investors, whereas Ford saw a 1.9% rise despite cautioning that tariffs could potentially reduce its 2025 earnings by around $2.5 billion.
