Retail sales in Macedonia experienced a 1% decline in April 2025 compared to the same month the previous year, following unchanged figures in March. This decline represents the most significant decrease in retail trade since January 2024. The downturn was primarily driven by a reduction in sales of food, beverages, and tobacco, which saw a marginal drop of 0.1% compared to a 1.3% increase in March. Meanwhile, sales of non-food products contracted more significantly, falling by 6.4% following a 2.3% decrease the previous month. Conversely, there was a notable increase in sales of automotive fuel, which rose by 6.1% following a modest 0.4% increase in March.
