In April 2025, Moldova saw a 1% year-over-year increase in industrial production, continuing a growth trend from the 0.1% rise observed the previous month. This growth was significantly bolstered by a remarkable spike in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning, which surged by 88.1% compared to a 5.1% decline in March. This sector's performance led to an overall 5.7% increase in total industry output. However, there were notable decreases in other sectors: mining and quarrying plummeted by 2.3% compared to a substantial 28.6% growth before, and the manufacturing industry fell by 5.2%, reversing the 1.8% gain from the previous period. On a month-to-month basis, total industrial production experienced a severe decline of 20.9% in April, marking the steepest drop since January last year, following a revised decrease of 4.2% in the prior month.
