In May 2025, Greece's current account posted a surplus of €0.20 billion, a notable shift from the €2.32 billion deficit observed in the same month the previous year. This development marked Greece's first monthly surplus in three months. The services surplus expanded to €2.21 billion from €1.88 billion in May 2024, driven by strong revenues from tourism and transportation. Additionally, the secondary income balance improved, registering a surplus of €0.52 billion compared to €0.22 billion a year earlier. At the same time, the deficit in the goods account significantly decreased to €2.36 billion from €3.45 billion, and the primary income deficit reduced to €0.17 billion from €0.51 billion. On a broader scale, the cumulative current account deficit narrowed to €6.43 billion, down from €8.58 billion during the same period last year.
