Poland Industrial Output Unexpectedly Falls

Poland experienced a slight dip in industrial output, decreasing by 0.1% year-on-year in June 2025. This downturn follows a previously upwardly revised seven-month peak where there was a 4% increase, and it stands in contrast to market predictions, which anticipated a 1.5% rise. This decline was the first observed since February, primarily due to reduced performance in manufacturing, which grew by only 0.4% compared to May's 4.3%, and in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities, which also saw a modest growth of 3.4% compared to the previous 3.7%. Meanwhile, there was a continued downturn in production for the mining and quarrying sectors, which fell by 8.5% following a 2.1% decrease. Additionally, the sectors dealing with electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply saw a significant drop, plummeting by 6.8% compared to a 1.6% rise previously. On a month-to-month comparison, industrial output decreased by 1.1% after a downwardly revised drop of 1.9% in May 2025.
