In June 2025, Hong Kong's exports experienced an increase of 11.9% year-on-year, reaching $417.8 billion. This represents the slowest growth rate in five months, down from a 15.5% ascent in May. Exports to Asian markets exhibited strong growth, rising by 17.2%. There were significant increases in exports to Malaysia (up 52.6%), the Philippines (up 48.3%), Vietnam (up 37.6%), mainland China (up 18.3%), and India (up 12.5%). Conversely, shipments to non-Asian regions weakened, with notable declines to the United States (down 12.1%) and the Netherlands (down 35.5%).
Examining product categories, most sectors saw export growth. Electrical machinery and apparatus led with a 20.2% increase, up from 15.5% in May. Office and automatic data processing machines witnessed a 10.4% rise, although this was less than the 44.9% seen previously. Telecommunications and sound recording, and reproducing equipment grew modestly by 2.6%, following a 21.3% increase. Exports of miscellaneous manufactured articles rose by 8.9%, and power-generating machinery and equipment saw a 19.3% increase. Notably, non-ferrous metals surged by 80.8%, contrasting with a previous decline of 19.7%.
However, exports in scientific and precision instruments declined by 9.2%, reversing a 5.7% gain, and non-metallic mineral goods saw an 8.3% drop, following a 16.3% decrease.
