The Confederation of British Industry's (CBI) monthly index for UK retail sales increased to -34 in July 2025, as opposed to June’s 17-month low of -46. Although this reflects a positive change, it still remained below market forecasts of -26. This recent figure shows that retail sales volumes have decreased for the tenth straight month due to climbing prices and persistent economic uncertainty affecting consumer spending. On a brighter note, the outlook for expected sales in August has improved to -31, up from -49 in the preceding month.
