Croatia’s unemployment rate inched up to 4.2% in October 2025, a slight rise from 4.1% the previous month, marking its highest point since April. The number of unemployed individuals rose by 4.8% month-over-month, reaching 77.8 thousand. Meanwhile, employment saw a marginal decline of 0.1%, settling at 1.8 million, while the labor force experienced a slight increase of 0.1%, also totaling 1.8 million. Within the realm of legally recognized employment, notable job growth was observed in the wholesale and retail trade sector (0.4%), education sector (3.1%), and public administration and defense (0.8%). Conversely, the manufacturing sector experienced a contraction of 3.4%. In comparison, the unemployment rate for October of the previous year stood higher at 4.7%.
