In October 2025, Chile's IMACEC economic activity index experienced a year-on-year increase of 2.2%, showing a slight deceleration from the 2.7% growth observed the previous month. Notably, commercial activity expanded by 8.1%, with all sectors demonstrating positive performance. Wholesale trade experienced an upturn driven by increased sales of machinery, equipment, and food. Retail sales also saw growth, particularly in department stores and specialty clothing retailers. The automotive sector recorded growth due to heightened vehicle sales and maintenance service demands.
Service sector activities rose by 2.5%, bolstered by personal services, notably in healthcare, and boosted by the transport sector. Conversely, the production of goods fell by 0.2%, attributed to declines in mining and other goods sectors. Mining faced a 1.6% drop owing to reduced copper extraction, while other goods contracted by 0.2% due to a decrease in electricity generation. However, manufacturing saw a 1.8% rise, primarily driven by an increase in food production. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the IMACEC demonstrated a 0.7% month-on-month increase.
