FX.co ★ Jordan Jobless Rate Edges Up to 21.4% in Q3

In the third quarter of 2025, Jordan experienced a slight uptick in its unemployment rate, reaching 21.4%. This figure is a minor increase from the 21.3% recorded in the first two quarters, marking a low point not seen since the first quarter of 2020. However, it shows a slight improvement from the 21.5% unemployment rate in the same period the previous year. The rise in overall unemployment is primarily due to an increase in unemployment among Jordanian women, which climbed to 33.9%—an increase of 0.6 percentage points from the third quarter of 2024 and 1.1 percentage points from the second quarter of 2025. This trend coincides with a number of graduates entering the job market after finishing their studies earlier in the year. On the other hand, unemployment among Jordanian men decreased to 18%, a decline of 0.3 percentage points compared to the third quarter of 2024 and 0.1 percentage points from the prior quarter. Regarding the employment-to-labor-force ratio among Jordanians, it stood at 78.6%, with male participation at 82.0% and female participation at 66.1%.
