Slovak Industrial Output Falls Again in October

In October 2025, Slovakia's industrial production experienced a year-on-year decline of 3.8%, marking a continuation of its downward trajectory despite a brief 0.6% rise in September. The most significant decline occurred in the transport equipment manufacturing sector, which plummeted by 11%, representing the poorest monthly performance since March 2024, partly due to a substantial comparison base. There was also a notable decrease in electricity and gas supply, which fell by 15.5%, while outputs in electrical equipment and machinery & equipment decreased by 8% and 6%, respectively. Conversely, the manufacture of chemicals saw a substantial increase of over 39%. On a seasonally adjusted basis, monthly industrial output dropped by 2.5%. Over the first ten months of 2025, total industrial production fell by 2.4% compared to the same period the previous year. This decline was primarily attributed to setbacks in electricity and gas supply, metal production, and machinery & equipment, although some of these losses were mitigated by gains in transport equipment. Out of the 15 sectors, seven recorded declines, highlighting widespread industrial weakness.
