Business confidence in Hong Kong experienced a slight decline, landing at -3 for the first quarter of 2026, compared to -2 in the previous three-month period. The percentage of respondents anticipating improved business conditions fell from 13% in Q4 2025 to 11%, while those expecting worsening conditions decreased marginally from 15% to 14%. Sentiment continued to weaken in sectors such as import/export trade and wholesale, which shifted from -11 to -12, transportation, storage, and courier services from -11 to -13, and professional and business services from -9 to -12. Furthermore, outlook turned negative in retail, moving from 14 to -1, accommodation and food services from 10 to -22, and real estate from 7 to -4. Conversely, sentiment remained unchanged in manufacturing at -15, while it showed modest improvement in construction, moving from -24 to -23, and in information and communication, which improved from -16 to -8.
