Norway House Prices Up 0.6% MoM in January

In January 2026, house prices in Norway experienced a 0.6% increase compared to the preceding month, after a stagnation in December. The number of residential sales amounted to 8,156 units in January, representing a 4.4% decline from the same period last year. Conversely, 8,490 homes were put on the market, marking a 13.2% increase from the previous year. The average duration for selling a home decreased to 62 days in January, from 71 days in December. The fastest turnarounds were observed in Bergen, Stavanger, and their surrounding regions, with properties selling in just 23 days, whereas Fredrikstad/Sarpsborg registered the longest at 136 days. Regionally, Ålesund and its surrounding areas recorded the highest price increases at 3.8%, followed by Bodø/Fauske with 2.9%, and Tromsø at 2.8%. In contrast, Fredrikstad/Sarpsborg (decline of 1.5%) and Asker/Bærum and surrounding areas (decline of 1.3%) faced the largest decreases. On an annual basis, house prices saw a 4.2% increase in January, a slight slowdown from the 5% rise recorded in December.
