The capesize index, tracking ships that typically carry 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, slipped 0.5% to 3,194 points, while the supramax index declined 0.3% to 1,194 points. In contrast, the panamax index, reflecting rates for vessels that usually transport 60,000–70,000 tons of coal or grain, advanced 0.4% to 1,792 points.
