Spain’s car registration market showed a clear rebound at the start of 2026, with year-over-year data for January turning positive after a contraction at the end of last year. The latest figures indicate that car registrations rose by 1.10% year-over-year in January 2026, according to data updated on 2 February 2026.
This marks a notable turnaround from December 2025, when registrations fell by 2.20% compared with December a year earlier. Both readings are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s performance with the same month of the previous year. The shift from a 2.20% decline in December to a 1.10% increase in January suggests that demand for new vehicles in Spain has begun to stabilize and modestly recover after the year-end weakness.
