FX.co ★ Baltic Dry Index Edges Down on Wednesday

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk freight index slipped 0.4% to 2,121 on Wednesday, easing back from a more than three-week high in the previous session. The capesize index, which typically tracks vessels carrying about 150,000 tons of cargo such as iron ore and coal, declined 2.5% to 3,128. In contrast, the panamax index, reflecting ships that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, rose 1.3% to 1,890. The supramax index also strengthened, advancing 3.1% to 1,255.
