Canada’s CFIB Business Barometer long-term index, which measures 12‑month forward expectations for business performance, rose to 64.8 in February 2026 from a revised 59.3 in January. This was the highest reading since April 2022, indicating renewed optimism among small businesses for the year ahead. Long-term confidence increased in every province except Saskatchewan. The short-term optimism index, which captures a three‑month outlook, jumped 8.7 points to 61.2, underscoring a notable improvement in business sentiment.
