Retail sales in Slovenia declined by 3.5% year-on-year in February 2026, after a 1.5% drop in January, reaching their lowest level since February 2024. Sales of non-food products fell by 2.1% (after a 1.1% increase in January), while sales of food, beverages, and tobacco contracted more sharply, by 4.6% (compared with a 1.4% decline previously). At the same time, the downturn in retail trade of automotive fuel at specialized stores moderated, with sales down 6.4% versus a 9.2% decrease in January. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales continued to weaken, falling 2% after a 1.9% decline in January. Overall, retail turnover in the first two months of 2026 was 1.9% lower than in the same period a year earlier.
