Tourist arrivals in Bulgaria rose by 2% year-on-year to 735.2 thousand in February 2026, though this was down from 790.3 thousand recorded in the previous month. An increase was observed across all monitored travel purposes. Visits for holiday and recreation reached 288.1 thousand, business trips totaled 113.4 thousand, and travel for other purposes amounted to 333.8 thousand.
Citizens of EU member states accounted for 55.1% of all arrivals, or 405.1 thousand visitors, with Romania contributing 43.6% and Greece 24% of this group. Tourists from other European countries made up 37.5% of total arrivals, or 275.4 thousand, of which Turkey represented 54.7%. Transit journeys constituted 28.2% of all entries, or 207.5 thousand.
