FX.co ★ Chile's IMACEC Contracts in February

Chile’s IMACEC economic activity index fell 0.3% year-on-year in February 2026, after a 0.5% decline in January, sharply undershooting expectations for a 1.9% expansion. Goods production contracted 3.7%, deepening from a 2.2% drop in the previous month, weighed down by a 3.6% decline in industrial output and a 5.4% fall in other goods. By contrast, mining activity grew 1.0%, recovering from a 1.1% contraction in January. Services expanded 1.6%, picking up from a 1.1% increase in the prior month, while trade activity edged up 0.2%, rebounding from a 0.9% decline. On a monthly basis, the IMACEC decreased 6.5% in February, following a steep 13.6% drop in January.
