Denmark’s consumer confidence index declined to -18.6 in April 2026 from -13.8 in March, reaching its lowest level since November 2025. Expectations for the overall economic situation deteriorated further, both for the current period (-31.8 vs -22.6 in March) and for the coming year (-27.5 vs -19.2). At the same time, households’ expectations for their own financial situation in a year turned negative (-6.8 vs 0.8), while assessments of their current financial situation slipped slightly (-12.5 vs -12.7).
Sentiment toward major purchases improved marginally but remained in negative territory (-14.6 vs -15.5). Among the components not included in the overall confidence indicator, consumers reported stronger perceptions of price increases both at present (36.8 vs 29.4) and over the next 12 months (43.7 vs 23.5). Meanwhile, concerns about unemployment in the year ahead continued to rise (20 vs 17.9).
