Argentina’s economic activity contracted by 2.1% year-on-year in February 2026, its weakest performance since September 2024, and a reversal from the 1.9% growth recorded in January. Of the sectors included in the economic activity index, seven posted declines. Manufacturing registered the sharpest drop, falling 8.7%, followed by wholesale and retail trade and repair services, which decreased 7.0%. By contrast, fishing activity jumped 14.8%, while mining and quarrying increased 9.9%. On a seasonally adjusted basis, overall activity fell 2.6% compared with the previous month.
