Sweden’s consumer price dynamics slipped into negative territory in April, with the country’s year-over-year Consumer Price Index (CPI) registering a -0.2% change, according to data updated on 9 May 2026. This marks a notable reversal from the previous annual reading of 0.5%.
Both the current and previous indicators are measured on a year-over-year basis, comparing price changes in a given month with the same month a year earlier. While the prior figure showed that prices in April 2026 were still modestly higher than in April 2025 by 0.5%, the latest reading indicates that, on balance, consumer prices in April 2026 were 0.2% lower than a year before.
The move from mildly positive to negative annual inflation highlights a cooling price environment in Sweden, suggesting easing price pressures across the consumer basket over the comparison period.
