US stock index futures were steady on Wednesday as investors awaited the Federal Reserve’s policy decision, with the central bank widely expected to leave interest rates unchanged. On the data front, markets will be watching reports on retail sales and pending home sales, while earnings releases from CarMax and Jabil are also scheduled.
In Tuesday’s regular session, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.64%, while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.57% and 1.15%, respectively. Technology shares retreated as investors took profits after a strong rally in semiconductor names, with Nvidia (-2.4%), Broadcom (-4.4%), Micron (-6.2%), AMD (-7.3%), and Intel (-8.5%) all recording sharp losses.
Meanwhile, SpaceX gained 4.8%, extending its advance since its IPO on Friday, amid reports that the company plans to acquire Cursor in a deal valued at $60 billion.
