Bosnia and Herzegovina Inflation Slows in May

The annual inflation rate in Bosnia and Herzegovina slowed to 5.6% in May 2026, down from 6.8% in April. The deceleration was mainly driven by lower inflation in transport, where the rate eased to 23.7% from 25.9%. Price growth also weakened in several other categories, including food (0.6% vs 2.6%), furnishings (1.6% vs 2.8%), health (5.5% vs 5.7%), recreation and culture (3.4% vs 4.4%), education (3.4% vs 3.6%), and restaurants and hotels (5.6% vs 6.2%).

By contrast, inflation picked up slightly in housing and utilities (11.5% vs 11.0%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.5% vs 3.4%), and communications (3.3% vs 3.2%). Meanwhile, prices for clothing and footwear fell at a marginally faster pace, declining 6.9% after a 6.8% drop in the previous month.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices decreased by 0.9% in May, partially offsetting the 1.9% rise recorded in April.
