Retail sales in Singapore rose 4% year-on-year in June 2026, quickening from a downwardly revised 2.9% increase in May. Growth was led by higher sales of recreational goods (11.4% vs 25.9% in May), watches and jewelry (10.5% vs 11.7%), and computer and telecommunications equipment (9.8% vs 7.9%).
Revenues also returned to growth for motor vehicles, parts and accessories (3.6% vs -0.9%) and for other goods (0.3% vs -4.7%), while the decline in sales of food and alcohol eased (-0.7% vs -3.5%).
In contrast, department stores (-9.5% vs -3.2%) and retailers of wearing apparel and footwear (-1.7% vs 0.3%) registered contractions. On a seasonally adjusted basis, retail sales rose 1% in June, rebounding from a slightly downwardly revised 2.2% fall in the previous month.
