Switzerland’s non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate inched up to 3.0% in July 2026 from 2.9% in June. The number of unemployed rose by 1,525 over the month, reaching 139,276.
At the cantonal level, the largest increases were recorded in Zurich (+372), Bern (+356), and Vaud (+236). In contrast, Aargau (-119), Graubünden (-44), and Jura (-17) registered the largest declines.
Youth unemployment among those aged 15 to 24 also edged higher, with the rate rising to 2.8% from 2.7%. The number of unemployed young people increased by 473 to 12,319.
The number of registered job seekers grew by 1,409 to 227,200, while reported job vacancies declined by 2,088 to 45,156. On a seasonally adjusted basis, however, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.1%.
