European equities inched to fresh record highs on Tuesday, as strength in technology and energy names offset otherwise subdued trading. The Euro STOXX 50 rose 0.5% to a new peak of 6,553, while the STOXX Europe 600 edged up to an all-time high of 660.8.
Semiconductor equipment maker ASML climbed 2.7%, buoyed by an upgrade from Bernstein. Other companies with significant exposure to AI-related infrastructure also advanced, with Siemens Energy gaining nearly 3%.
Energy shares rallied after US President Trump adopted a tougher stance on Iran, reinforcing expectations of continued disruptions to exports through the Persian Gulf. This came despite more optimistic signals on a possible agreement from Pakistan and Qatar. TotalEnergies and ENI each added close to 2%.
