Household spending in Sweden rose 1.6% month-on-month in June 2026, rebounding from a revised 0.3% decline in May. This was the strongest monthly increase since January, largely supported by a sharp recovery in outlays on personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods and services (up 5.9% vs down 3.9% in May), transportation (5.4% vs -4.1%), recreation, sports and culture (4.9% vs -1.5%), healthcare (3.9% vs -4.4%), furniture, household equipment and routine home maintenance (3.8% vs -2.3%), and alcoholic beverages, tobacco and drugs (1.6% vs -2.1%).
Spending also increased on information and communication (5.3% vs 1.3%) and on clothing and footwear (3.5% vs 0.4%). In contrast, growth in expenditure on food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.5% vs 0.7%) and on housing and utilities (0.4% vs 1.6%) lost momentum. On an annual basis, household consumption advanced 4.3%, the fastest pace since May 2022, after a revised 2.0% increase in May.
