Retail sales in Poland rose by 3.9% year-on-year in July 2026, slowing from a 6.2% increase in June and falling short of market expectations of 4.5%. Growth moderated in several key categories, including motor vehicles, motorcycles, and parts (8.1% vs 9.6% in June); food, beverages, and tobacco (1.5% vs 1.7%); furniture, radio and TV equipment, and household appliances (8.8% vs 14.8%); and other retail categories (9.2% vs 9.9%).
At the same time, sales declined in solid, liquid, and gaseous fuels (-0.2% vs 9.0%); textiles, clothing, and footwear (-1.7% vs 3.3%); and newspapers, books, and other specialized stores (-1.2% vs 3.0%). In contrast, sales of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and orthopaedic equipment accelerated, increasing by 10.8% compared with 10.2% in June.
On a month-on-month basis, retail sales rose by 2.2% in July, following a 1.4% gain in June. Over the January–July period, retail sales were 3.7% higher than in the same period a year earlier.
