Taiwan’s M2 money supply rose 7.42% year-on-year to TWD 70,225 billion in July 2026, easing from an 8.13% increase in June. The slower growth was mainly attributed to net foreign capital outflows. On a monthly basis, M2 slipped 0.09%, while average M2 growth for the first seven months of the year came in at 6.60%.
Meanwhile, lending and investment by all monetary institutions expanded 9.07% year-on-year, up from 8.80% in June, driven primarily by stronger growth in claims on public enterprises and government debt. When lending and investment by life insurers are included, and after adjusting for bad-debt write-offs transferred by monetary institutions, the broader measure increased 7.40% year-on-year, slightly higher than the 7.33% recorded in the previous month.
