Turkey’s economic growth slowed slightly in the second quarter of 2026, with gross domestic product (GDP) expanding by 2.3% year-on-year, down from 2.5% in the first quarter of 2026. The latest data, updated on 31 August 2026, confirms a modest loss of momentum in the pace of annual expansion.
Both the first and second quarter figures are measured on a year-over-year basis, comparing each quarter’s performance with the same period a year earlier. While the deceleration from 2.5% to 2.3% suggests that growth has cooled marginally, the economy continues to expand at a positive rate, indicating ongoing—if slightly softer—underlying activity.
