Poland’s Inflation Picks Up to 3.4% in August, Ending Recent Cooling Trend

Poland’s consumer price inflation accelerated to 3.4% year-over-year in August 2026, up from 3.0% in July 2026, according to data updated on 31 August 2026. The move marks a shift away from the previous month’s slower pace and suggests that price pressures are firming again.

Both the current and previous readings are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month to the same month a year earlier. In July, the CPI increase of 3.0% year-over-year had pointed to a moderating trend, but the August rise to 3.4% indicates that disinflation has paused, and inflation is edging higher instead.

The uptick in August may prompt investors and analysts to reassess expectations for Poland’s inflation path in the coming months, with attention turning to how sustained this renewed upward momentum in consumer prices will be.
