Slovenia’s annual inflation rate inched up to 3.0% in August 2026 from 2.9% in July. The slight acceleration was largely driven by faster price growth in housing and utilities, where inflation rose to 8.1% from 7.3%, and in transport, where it increased to 4.7% from 2.6%. Inflation in insurance and financial services also picked up, reaching 3.8% compared with 2.9% in the previous month.
By contrast, price growth slowed in several categories: alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.5% vs 4.7%), clothing and footwear (0.1% vs 0.9%), furnishings (0.7% vs 1.3%), health (1.5% vs 2.1%), information and communication (2.0% vs 2.8%), and recreation, sport and culture (5.3% vs 6.3%). Food prices declined by 1.0%, following a 0.4% drop in July, deepening the deflation in this category.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.1% in August, reversing the 0.1% decrease recorded in July.
