Angola’s economy grew 8.74% year-on-year in Q2 2026, its fastest expansion since Q2 2022 and a sharp acceleration from 5.32% in the previous quarter. Growth was driven primarily by the non-oil sector, which expanded 9.24%, up from 6.22% in Q1, with particularly strong performances in services and industry. The oil sector also supported overall growth, increasing 5.64% and posting its first quarterly expansion since Q4 2024.
Among the best-performing activities were diamond, metallic mineral and other non-metallic mineral extraction (+16.46%); information and communication (+14.30%); accommodation and food services (+12.59%); manufacturing (+12.22%); and financial and insurance intermediation (+11.83%). Subsidies and taxes also recorded sharp increases, rising by 116.26% and 37%, respectively. On a seasonally adjusted basis, GDP grew 2.75% quarter-on-quarter, the fastest rate since Q2 2024, following a 1.37% expansion in Q1.
