Greece Factory Activity Hits Five-Month High

The S&P Global Greece Manufacturing PMI inched up to 54.4 in August from 54.3 in July, indicating a further improvement in operating conditions and marking the strongest expansion since March. New orders rose at their fastest pace since March, driven by firmer client demand, while new export orders increased for a second consecutive month. Employment grew at its sharpest rate since May 2025, as firms expanded their workforces to accommodate higher workloads, and purchasing activity also picked up.

Nonetheless, output growth softened, as material shortages and ongoing supply chain disruptions continued to weigh on production. On the price front, input cost inflation accelerated, reflecting higher energy, fuel and material costs, particularly for oil-derived products. In contrast, output price inflation eased to its slowest rate since February. Meanwhile, business confidence improved to its highest level since January 2024, underpinned by expectations of stronger order books, new client acquisitions and increased investment in new facilities.
