US stock indices finished higher on Wednesday, rebounding as heavyweight technology names advanced. The S&P 500 rose 0.5%, the Nasdaq gained 0.2%, and the Dow added 295 points. Financials and technology shares recovered after recent increases in Treasury yields had pressured the outlook for credit-sensitive sectors.
Large-cap tech and cloud “hyperscalers” were mostly stronger: Alphabet climbed 0.6%, Meta advanced 2.5%, and Oracle gained 3.1%. Alphabet also drew support after a federal judge ruled Google would not be required to divest its advertising exchange, instead ordering the company to make its ad-tech tools interoperable with competitors.
Nvidia jumped 3.2% following reports it is close to a $14 billion acquisition of AI startup Hugging Face. Dell surged 15.8% after beating earnings expectations and raising its revenue outlook. By contrast, Palo Alto Networks slid 9.3% despite delivering better-than-expected quarterly results, while Broadcom fell 0.7% ahead of its earnings release after the closing bell.
