U.S. imports increased 2.8% month-over-month to $399.3 billion in July 2026, the highest level since the record $416.35 billion reached in March 2025. Purchases rose for computers (up $6.9 billion), computer accessories (up $6.6 billion), and semiconductors (up $1.2 billion), while declines were recorded for crude oil (down $1.8 billion) and charges for the use of intellectual property (down $0.5 billion). The bulk of imports came from Mexico ($60 billion), the European Union ($45.4 billion), Canada ($25.6 billion), and China ($25.6 billion).
