Denmark’s manufacturing output fell by 5.5% month-over-month in July 2026, reversing from a downwardly revised 6.2% expansion in June and marking the sharpest contraction since January 2025. Production declined in ten of the twelve industrial groups, led by the transport sector, which plunged 21.3% after a 27.8% surge in June. This was followed by steep drops in electronics manufacturing (-13.9% vs 25.6% previously) and the metal industry (-11.6% vs 11.7%).
Output also weakened in the pharmaceutical industry, the country’s key manufacturing sector, which accounts for around 20% of total production, slipping 6.2% after a 6.9% rise in June. By contrast, only two categories recorded growth: the manufacture of electrical equipment and machinery, up 0.9% (vs 3.7% previously) and 0.8% (vs 12.7%), respectively.
On a non-seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing output increased by 4.1% in July, the weakest rise in seven months and a sharp slowdown from the upwardly revised 13.8% gain recorded in the prior period.
