FX.co ★ Brazil Vehicle Production Nears 7-Year High

Brazil’s vehicle production rose 6.8% month-on-month in August 2026 to 271.2 thousand units, accelerating from a 3.1% increase in July and marking the highest monthly output since October 2019. Light vehicle production reached 257.5 thousand units, with passenger car output up 9.5% to 214.9 thousand units, while light commercial vehicle production fell 2% to 42.6 thousand units. Heavy vehicle production totaled 13.6 thousand units, with truck output down 2.8% to 11.8 thousand units and bus production declining 13.1% to 1.86 thousand units. Overall production increased 9.4% year-on-year. In the first eight months of 2026, total output reached about 1.9 million units, up 8.5% from the same period a year earlier. Despite this robust growth, roughly two-thirds of the additional 150,000 vehicles produced in 2026 were SKD and CKD units—vehicles imported as parts and then assembled in Brazil.
